The goal is to help pupils who, without support, are at risk of falling behind with their school work. Stadsnetwerk Taal & Huiswerk matches pupils between 6 and 16 years old with volunteers who are willing to become an online language and homework buddy. Utrecht University is participating in the recently founded Stadsnetwerk Taal & Huiswerk (City Network for Language & Homework), a network that helps vulnerable children and young people in Utrecht with their homework on an individual basis, to keep them from falling behind too far in their education. Even now that the schools are slowly starting up again, this group still needs extra support. Vulnerable pupils in particular are suffering from this, as they may be struggling with the Dutch language, or their parents may have no time to help them with their homework.
The temporary closure of schools has had significant consequences for children, young people and parents.
